November 2018 - Fayre and statuses

In November you were sure to find us, as it has now become tradition, above Montreux in the little village of Brent for their annual Fayre offering our much-demanded pony rides. A big change this year; Bella came with Benjy for her first ever pony rides. Good weather, children galore and lots of dazzling smiles made for a great day! Bella, as per habit, ended up in the local newspaper “Le Régionale” the week after.

The arrival of fresher days and less flies brought the opportunity to geld Starlight. This was something we decided to do so as to offer him a life worthy of that name; he can go out to pasture without restrictions regarding the other horses, no need to make any adjustments to the stabling or fencing, things that we often encounter when managing stallions. When going on outings, we won’t have to worry about the other horses, or whether he will be tolerated or not. The children can keep on spending time with him. Having a stallion doesn’t necessarily mean it will be that restrictive, they can turn out to be even more docile than mares, but it’s not a risk we are willing to take because it’s not worth it.
